ISC's Software Suite

In addition to Implementation and Management services, Intracoastal Software Consulting, Inc. provides an integration package that implements Endevor using ISC methodologies. This software suite provides powerful functions that augment Endevor. The new functions focus on the reduction of manual maintenance and enforcement of customer procedures. The need for these functions arises from common implementation extensions to Endevor that push Endevor beyond its base capability. These functions are very flexible; they can be customized to meet specific client requirements without changes to their source. Clients may choose to implement only certain functions now and turn on other features as needed.

Among the functions available from ISC's Software Suite are:

• 'ISC - Archive Lock' When performing an "archive" action against a secured inventory area (i.e., PROD) 'ISC - Archive Lock' will validate that the elements are archived to a secured and audit-able and recoverable medium.
  It controls usage of the Endevor ARCHIVE function at certain inventory locations. This is beneficial to the administrative user on several levels. ISC - Archive Lock helps to enforce policies of restricting Endevor facilities in some inventory locations by ensuring that all archives go to a controlled set of outputs (to prevent loss or deletion). In addition, this function improves audit-ability because only audited functions need to be summarized in order to assess preparedness for various Source Management tasks. These benefits are realized without having to give up the flexibility of unregulated inventory locations.
  
• 'ISC - Duplicate Element Check' registers the owner of a source element. In addition 'ISC - Duplicate Element Check' dis-allows inadvertent re-classification of an element's inventory area/ownership, while still allowing an element to exist in multiple (concurrent) development areas. (I.E., FIX & PROD).
  It helps both the developer and Administrative user. It ensures that ADD and UPDATE actions do not destroy existing elements with the same NAME, but different TYPE attributes. This augments Endevor's source handling facilities by assuring correct output-processor selection (changing an Element's TYPE is usually an error that causes an incorrect processor to be run). Additionally, it keeps developers from inadvertently deleting the source of an existing element with a new element with the same NAME, but a different TYPE, for a new element just entering the development cycle (Endevor protects against this when Name and Type both match). Customers using ISC - Duplicate Element Check also prevent inadvertent transfer of an element from one application group to another. This is especially important when Systems have interdependent elements (so elements do not ping-pong) or when older systems are migrated to newer systems (once an element moves to a new application, it is not be re-inserted into the old application).
  
• 'ISC - Function Lock' Disables certain actions and responds to users with messages as to why an action has been denied. For Example:
  "ISC010E - FNC-DELETE not allowed in PROD"
  "ISC010E - Use FNC-ARCHIVE to de-implement element"
  It controls usage of Endevor Functions at certain inventory locations. ISC - Function Lock enforces policy that restricts the use of specified Endevor facilities (typically ADD, DELETE, and TRANSFER) in some inventory locations. It extends the capabilities of ESI by allowing inventory locations to be unregulated and validating actions (like TRANSFER) on their own.
  

Other features of the ISC Software Suite include Process Solutions which provide the following capabilities, among others:

• Provide Endevor users flexibility to override processor default compile and link directives while maintaining Configuration Management Standards, controls and monitoring.
  
• Provide Solutions for the typical issues of Alias Support, Renamed Load Module Support, and Modules with Overlay attributes.
  
• Inventory Analysis and Conversion solutions
  

ISC Software is written in System/390 Assembler and uses Object technology for easy maintenance and extensibility. It has high performance and is parameter driven for easy administrative interaction.
